A new manufacturer-backed initiative aims to get more young people involved in the automotive sector

A new government initiative aims to plug a 100,000-person strong skills gap in the automotive industry. The plan, dubbed See Inside Manufacturing, aims to encourage students into engineering and automotive careers. BMW, Ford, JLR and McLaren are among the manufacturers backing the plan.

Ho Sung Song has been announced as the new president of Kia Motors Europe. Song has held numerous senior management positions with the company, most recently as president of Kia Motors France. He replaces Byung-Tae Yea, who moves to a new role at Hyundai.

Ford will halt production of the B-Max for almost two weeks next month due to poor demand in Europe. The Romanian factory where the B-Max is built employs some 2500 people and produces 370 cars and 1000 engines per day.
